Other Manufacturer Trans-Oceanic "Look-Alike" Clones

There were several other manufacturers who made Zenith Trans-Oceanic clones.  In our virtual museum, we have working look-alike T/O units made by Silvertone, RCA, Hallicrafters, Heath, Philips and Stromberg-Carlson.  All were AC/DC units and very similar in design to the Zenith units as far as miniaturized tubes and the tube types are concerned.  We will add some pictures here as time permits . . .

This is the Hallicrafters TW500 Trans-Oceanic "look-alike" radio that uses the same 5 tube scheme as most Zenith models.  This radio is covered in a green alligator looking material.

This is a Hallicrafters TW2000 Trans-Oceanic "look-alike" radio that uses the same 6 tube scheme as the later A or B600 Zenith models.  This one is covered in a brown leatherette material.

This is the Silvertone (Sears-Roebuck) Model 5227 Trans-Oceanic "look-alike" radio that uses the "normal" 5 tube scheme as Zenith.  It is covered in a brown lizard looking material.

This is a real beautiful RCA set covered in Brown stitched leather.  This is RCA's model 3BX671 and uses a 6 tube scheme like the later Zenith models.

This is a very rare Stromberg-Carlson AWP-8 Trans-Oceanic "look-alike" radio.  This is one of the nicest ones seen and has a pluthora of short-wave bands as well as a thermometer and barometer built into the front of the radio.  It also has a color map of the world which is a real-nice touch.  This is the only one of these that we have ever seen and would make a great-addition to a Trans-Oceanic collection. This radio is covered in a black leather covering.
