Information and service data - 1915 -
1980
We have information in different part of
this website. This page allows you to do a database search for
manufacturers names, model number, and descriptive data. (See the search
buttons below ON THIS PAGE)
We also have a flea-market section where
you can just scroll a list of stuff we have for sale. Click
here to get to this list.
We have a list of recent acquisitions that
we haven't had time to put into the database and you can view this list by
clicking here . . . .
We have new books about antique radio . . .
We have old books about antique radio . . .
We also have over 1/2 million schematics
from service manuals by John Rider, Service Manual Series, Bietman and Gernsback.
You can get more info on what we have below ON
THIS PAGE and can order schematic in several places on this
page.
You can search our database
of over 40,000 manuals and schematic information by entering information
in the form below. You need to make sure your spelling is correct
but you do not have to have the full or proper name of what you are
entering as it will look for "EXACTLY" what you enter in either
(NOT BOTH) of the data entry fields below. Example: Entering
the letters fis will return "FISHER" from Fisher Radio
fame. The first data field is generally the name of the manufacturer
or trade name of the item and in some cases will be the name of the author
of a book, ie, "Chapman" in A. Chapman who wrote the Radio Boys
series books.
If you do not find a
schematic diagram you are looking for with the search, this does not mean
we do not have it. Scroll further down this page for how you can get
the schematic that you need from our archives of over 1/2 million
schematic diagrams.
We have a lot of listings
with no manufacturers name, author of model, but there is a lot of
descriptive information in the "Description" area of the
database. Just as an example, if you were interested in finding out
something about old hi-fidelity enclosures, just put the word
"enclosure" in the Description field and see what you get.
You don't even have to completely spell it, because the letters
"encl" will give you the same results as the complete word.
You will see category
information: SER=Service manual, OM=Owners Manual, SCH=Schematic,
OM/SCH=Owners Manual w/schematic, if you have any questions about the
various categories, please ask.

Service Information
We have amassed approximately
1,000,000 schematic diagrams available in this category of antique
radios as well as nearly 100,000 manuals and other old radio related
information. We get inquiries from people about old radios that generally fall into the following
examples:
A. I
need a schematic. I know the name of the manufacturer and a
model number and/or chassis
number. If you fit into this category and you are ready to order
click the "add to the cart" button at the bottom of this
paragraph and fill in the information blank.
The cost for a Riders schematic is $
10.00. If your radio was made after
1945, we may have
the schematic in our Service Sets and the cost is $
13.95 up but this is a highly
preferable schematic compared to the older ones in Riders.
Service Sets
are only available for radios built in and after 1946. You do not need to fill in any of the blank forms below. When you
order, you will put in the information in the spaces provided and that is all we need to process
your order. To order, fill in the information about the make and
model and chassis number if there is one.
I think my radio is before 1946 . .
. I want to order a Riders schematic. I understand that the Rider's
schematics are $ 7.00 each and there is a minimum order of $ 10.00.
But a lot of people fall into the following
categories with their old radios . . . .
B.
I have an old radio, don't know who made it, don't know how old it is,
can't find a model number, or some variety of these factors. If you
don't know who made it, we are immediately in trouble. If you provide
us with the tube types and the number of each type, we can provide a search
for the proper schematic. The same scenario is applicable if you know
who made it but don't know the model number. We generally can find a
proper schematic if you will provide us as much information as possible
about the radio. The cost for a search is $ 18.00. See more detailed information
about schematic searching here.
But you will have to drop down on this page and fill in all of C. I have an old battery radio. I know the
name of the manufacturer, but there is no model
number. Because there were many, many radios built from available
radio parts in the 1920's, many of these had very limited production and
even some were one of a kind. There are perhaps dozens of brand names
of old battery sets that simply have NO SCHEMATICS
available. We have a Rider's manufacturers list below on this page and
you can scan this list to see if your radio is listed. We can usually find a schematic that matches the tubes but
it might not match exactly your specific radio. Interestingly enough,
radio technology in the 20's was not rocket science so the circuits were
similar between designs and in any event, all manufacturers had to match their circuits
up to the operating characteristics of the tubes that were common in all
radios. If you don't want us to do a search, you can do one
yourself. We have
prepared a collection of 100 old battery set schematics from the Riders
collection.
Based on the fact that these old radios were not too sophisticated, you can
generally find a schematic that will match or come close to matching your
set. This is our publication R1791
and the cost is
$ 18.00.
The cost for a search is also $
18.00 for a Rider Search. See more detailed information
about schematic searching here.
You can order at any time in the left margin or bottom of any page but
remember to drop down to the information entry form at the bottom this
page and let us know everything about your specific radio so we can do the
best we can to match its characteristics!
E-MAIL SCHEMATICS
an interesting testimonial about an E-Mail Manual)
We can E-Mail your schematic to you anywhere in the
world at no extra charge for
our Riders schematics. We can also E-Mail a
Service Manual or schematic but there is a $ 3.00
extra
charge because most of these schematics have not yet been digitized and there is a
process that we have to go through to copy the schematic pages, then scan and
store it, then convert to an E-Mail. We send these to you
as an E-Mail attachment as a convenience to you or in case that you are in a big
hurry to get the schematic. Most E-Mail schematics will get to your
email box the same day you order. As of 2007, we are sending email
manuals and schematics using Adobe's PDF file format. A free browser
is always available to view and print these digital documents. Look what Mark Mokris of
Michigan says about our email schematic service on 8/10/99,
"Thanks again for the schematic for
the Philco 41-255. I still can't believe I can call you up and receive a
schematic of a 1940 vintage radio by email. Everyone I tell about it is
amazed too." Need we say

If your radio was made between 1946 and 1952, we may be able to
provide a Riders schematic for it. However most service people
like the Service schematics better than Riders. Iif your radio schematic is available after
1946 and is available in our Service Schematic Sets, we will automatically upgrade
your request to this schematic, but rest assured, that the extra cost is
well worth the difference.
READ THIS ----> We receive a lot of email messages requesting
information about whether we have this radio schematic or that radio schematic.
If your radio was manufactured in America and it was made by a recognized
manufacturer, we should have the schematic. It should be noted, however,
that there were dozens of makers of radios in the very early days of radio that
only made a few, and many of them were one of a kind and most probably were
built on their kitchen table or in their garage or barn. In our Riders
CD-Series, we have extracted a list of manufacturers and their brand names to
help you in seeing if their schematics are in our archives. If your radio is one of
these, we will most probably have it, but always give us as much information as you can so we can
make sure that we are sending you the correct schematic diagram.
Note:
If you do not see your radio in this list, it could mean several things, i.e.,
your radio may have not been made by these manufacturers, it may be a one of a
kind, it may have been built after WWII, it may have been manufactured overseas
or in Canada or a whole raft of other reasons you may not find it in the listing
below. If you see your radio's name, we will most likely have the
schematic, if you don't see it, give us an email inquiry. Here are the
manufacturers names and some of the brand names they were sold under . . . Most
of the below list of names were manufacturers names who had service
information archived by Riders and others between 1915 and the late
1950's.

SERVICE SCHEMATIC
INFORMATION
Generally speaking, radios and televisions
manufactured after 1946 are available in the Service Schematic series.
There are several categories of equipment available.
- RADIO-TV
Service Schematic Series
- TSM -
Transistorized Radios
- AR - Auto Radios
- MHF -
Modular Hi-Fidelity
- CB -
Citizens Band Radios
- VCR -
Video Cassette Recorders
- SD

You need to order with the make and model
and/or chassis for the radio that you need a schematic for. You
should assume if it is before 1964, we should have it. If we do not
have it, we will email or call you for your information. Please
assume we have it in our archives. Service chematic
prices are dependent on how many pages are involved. Most earlier
radios are less than 10 pages. Most TV sets fall into the 11-25 page
category. The newer the set, the larger the service information will
be. It is not unusual to see some of the later factory radio service
manuals that will exceed 25 pages.
Pricing -
all via mail at extra cost - add $ 3.00
for E-Mail because we have to digitize these before
E-Mailing them. (Stated earlier on this page)

EUROPEAN MADE RADIOS
(not imported into the USA)
If your radio was
made in Europe, we may have the schematic as a special. If we do
have it, we will let you know based on the model and make information that
you give to us. We have to get these schematics from overseas and it
takes about 6 weeks to do so. These are special, very hard to get
schematics. The cost for these is $
45.00, but if you've got one of these
wonderful old radios that doesn't work, it is worth the effort to get a
schematic and to repair the radio. You can always inquire as to
whether we will have it or not. As a side note, many European radios
after WWII were exported to the US by trading companies using different
names, but usually the actual manufacturer's name would be on the back of
the set cover. The Service Manual Series has, in fact, a few of these sets,
so if so, the cost would be as indicated above with the page prices.
If not, then we have to try to see if your set manufacturer and model
number match the European version of that set. It may or may not be
an exact match, so it is important to give as much information about the
radio as you can at the time of initiating an inquiry or order.
