COLLINS
RADIO TECHNICAL
PUBLICATIONS
ON CD-ROM

December 15, 1999
Dallas, Texas
Announcing the release of the
complete set of Collins Radios Technical CD-ROM series from Radio Era Archives.
The monumental scanning task is finally complete and the entire series is now available. This series contains nearly every Collins Radio technical manual for every communication
and amateur radio equipment item that was manufactured by Collins Radio from 1946 until 1980.
To insure the very highest quality of reproducing the original manuals, REA used
photographic quality paper for reproduction to insure the highest quality
possible for the digital files that were created. Many of the equipment items were manufactured over many years which resulted in many revisions of the equipment during
the manufacturing life span. This resulted in multiple editions of the same equipment manual. In order to try to give
the user of this CD-ROM series a manual that is useful, where the multiple edition situation exists,
we have provided an early edition-the last edition and one somewhere in the middle.
This will allow the user to find a manual with revisions similar to his/her equipment
item. In addition to the equipment manuals, all the factory service notes
have been included on the CD's. This series is available individually or
as a complete collection. Each CD-ROM is a stand-alone resource product requiring a
PC running Windows 95 or higher, A CD-ROM player, and any compatible internet
browser such as Netscape or Microsoft Explorer. This easy to use format
assures an easy way to search the CD-ROM for the manual that you are wanting and
to get very quick access. Each manual is complete
from the front page to the back page. All diagrams, drawings and schematics are
included. The user can view, enlarge, rotate and print to your local
computer printer. You may
print a single page, a group of pages or the entire manual. Where a
schematic diagram spans several normal sized pages (which is generally the
case), the schematics on each page are overlapped so nothing is missed. If
you print a multi-page schematic to a normal home computer printer the size is
generally 8 1/2 x 11" paper size. The overlapping will allow
scotch-taping the pieces together for a seamless flow for those who want to see
the entire schematic diagram as it was originally drawn. The license is
restricted to individual and non-commercial use. Each CD is a stand-alone
product and does not require any other to operate. Volumes 1 through 3
speak for themselves as to what they contain. Volume 4 covers just about
everything else, including accessories, vfo's, exciters, rack mounts, cases and
nearly everything that one would consider an accessory to the primary equipment.
This collection of digital technical
publications should be a must for every Collins equipment user and
collector. REA had wanted to produce a series of CD's containing manuals
of Collins but realized that even if we lasted into the next millennium, we would
not obtain all of the manuals that are required to cover this vast amount of
equipment, nor would we be able to find all of the editions of the same
equipment manual. So Rockwell-Collins provided us their library archive manuals from
the Cedar Rapids, Iowa headquarters for digitization and inclusion in this product. It is with their kind
cooperation that REA has finally been able to produce this series. The
series contains:

Collins Receivers
