publications. If you have any questions about our CD-ROM products,
please call or email us your question. The following information
contains detail for all of our CD's.
The hallicrafters
CD-ROM - Now Shipping, This
CD-ROM publication has been several years in the making as it has taken
over 4 years to accumulate enough manuals to make a serious dent towards
publishing most of the more common types of Hallicrafters
equipment. There are over 125 complete factory service manuals and
schematics and other related information contained on this single CD-ROM
which is pretty well filled to capacity. If you are a hobbyist,
Hallicrafters lover, collector, repair person or restorer on old radio
receivers and transmitters then this is a great resource CD-ROM to add
to your collection. To see more detail about which models and
information are contained, click "HERE".
RCA SERVICE NOTES - VOL. 1,
1923-1928 Now
Shipping- This is the first
"red-book" that is so hard to find because collectors won't
give them up. This book has extreme technical information as well
as operating instructions for all of RCA's equipment that they
manufactured from the start of the radio era in 1923 through the end of
1928. It contains all of the rare Radiola sets and lots of other
things as well. Even has detail on speakers, horns and the like
and crystal sets (Aereola Jr). Since RCA marketed GE and
Westinghouse production, it contains the GE and Westinghouse
manufactured equipment with RCA's logo on it as well. For early
radio buffs, this is a MUST book that just seems to be impossible to
find at any price, so we felt that it should be archived for all time -
and this is just the first of a series of RCA "Red-Books" that
we will publish in CD-ROM form. Volume 2 will cover 1929 through
1932, Volume 3 will cover 1933 through 1936 and Volume 4 will cover all
of their equipment from 1937 through 1940. Keep tuned in for later
releases of additional RCA volumes.

40,000+ schematics and alignment data on most old radios. This CD covers
over 120,000 different radio models and chassis. Over 50 radio manufacturers radio models are included that are not even contained in Mr. Rider’s original indexes! Over two years in the making using high resolution scanning equipment and a powerful database for indexing. Don’t confuse this remarkable series for inferior products that are not database driven. Database search indexing is provided for over 100,000 radios and provides a remarkable resource for finding radio schematics even if you don’t know how to spell the name of the radio or only know just a portion of a model or chassis number. The most comprehensive resource ever produced on repair schematics of old radios. A powerful database allows searching by manufacture or radio name and model number. This is a powerful resource for collectors, repairmen, restorer’s and the like. Schematics may be viewed on the screen and printed to a local printer for personal use. The complete set has 6 CD-Roms. The CD’s contain: V1-V4, V5-V8, V9-V12, V13-V16, V17-V20 and V21-V23. You can use individual CD’s by themselves and do not have to purchase a complete package, but may add any of the other Rider’s CD’s or other REA Radiophile or Antique Radio CD’s to your digital collection at any time.
If you have tried some of the "look-alike" Riders CD's, you
are in for a treat with this database driven system and the fact that
you can read all of the values unlike some of the poor copies that are
out there now in CD-land.

Tube Substitution Handbook - 1977 - 111 pgs. - an invaluable reference in these days of hard to find tubes!
Bernard’s English Valve Substitution Manual - 44 pgs. - 1966 comprehensive english valve to tube cross reference.
Cunningham 1927 Tube to Radio Cross-reference - 214 pgs, great for identifying those hard to find out what they are - radios!
RCA RADIOTRON DESIGNERS HANDBOOK - Version 4 - Many people have asked for this specific book in CD-Electronic form. This is the last version of the famous Radiotron Designers Handbook series and this final version has over 1,600 pages of the most detailed technical information ever assembled in a single publication. Just about everything is here, from the very earliest days of radio to up-to-date information. This book is not for the light at heart and is not “easy reading”. This is a highly technical book and delves into the very depths of electronic circuitry. This book is very hard to find since it has been out of publication since 1952, but Radio Era Archives is proud to bring it back for all time - in digital form. The last one of these books that we saw being sold was on the EBAY internet auction and it went for over $ 160.00, so this makes this publication in digital form a real bargain. This publication on CD-ROM is viewed starting with a web-browser such as the Internet Explorer by Microsoft or Netscape Navigator. Then there are two executable windows programs that contain the index and the book. When using the publication it is useful to open both programs simultaneously as you will browse through the index, then goto the book to find the exact page described in the index. This is just like picking up a book to read it . . . you generally find the index after opening a few pages, you find something you would like to read, then you turn to that section, chapter or page. Since there is a very detailed index, it is very easy to find the exact item that you are looking for. You may print any page, any group of pages, a chapter or the whole book with your Windows compatible printer.
Amos ‘N Andy Vol. 1 - new audio CD-ROM with lost WWII radio programs. Contains 12 - 30 minute programs on a single CD-ROM. Needs Internet browser, PC or Mac with soundcard and CD-ROM player. Must be able to playback WAVE files. First of a series of great old radio programs that will be a great resource for laughter from now on.
The Radio Boys - 13 Books -
Complete Collection on CD-ROM - The Radio Boys live again, in their
13 books by Allen Chapman. Adventure stories about the early days of
radio in an easy to read style for all ages. This the most famous
of the Radio Boys authors from the early days of radio and is the entire
collection of 13 books. Great reading and adventure for young and old. Great gift for persons with radio interest. Simply good entertainment. Reads just like a book, needs PC with Windows and Internet browser to use this CD-ROM. You can print a page, chapter or the entire book.
REA’s Complete Riders Index on CD-ROM - Due to constant requests, we have taken all of the indexing from our Riders 6-CD series and have made it available on CD-ROM.
The indexing is keyed to the radio models that were hand indexed from 3
- sets of Riders manuals and made into REA's Riders 6 CD-Set of
CD-ROM. This CD requires using an HTML browser software and either the ability to read a PC text file or PC Excel spreadsheet file. Every radio in this series is alphanumerically listed with the starting and ending “.tif” graphics numbers indication starting page and ending page number for specific schematics. This could be of help to those who want a complete accurate index. The Excel file is preferable due to multiple column spacing and lining up the columns for easy reading.
Famous Schematic Service Data Series - Each release will
contain 25 "Sets" of service schematics. Because of
the file sizes required for these extensive schematics, a CD-ROM will
only hold 25 or so sets. Each set can contain up to 30 or so
different schematics depending on the type of radio and how much data
was originally supplied by the manufacturer. Based on the average
number of schematics in a set, and the low price of $ 79 per CD Volume,
this would make each schematic only about .08. Even if you work
this out to roughly 30 schematics per set with 25 sets per volume, this
would average $ 2.40 per set, which was the retail price of a set IN
1965! The Schematic Service series
usually has pictures of the radios, pictures above the chassis as well as below
the chassis, a parts list, alignment information and in appropriate
cases dial stringing information.
